HelpTLS (Transport Layer Security) and it's predecessor SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) can be used to encrypt communications in order to prevent someone from eavesdropping. Without these, someone with access to the equipment used to carry data between you and our server may be able to read your emails. Port995 supports encrypted access to the main port995.com website, your control panel, collecting your email via POP or IMAP and sending email via SMTP. Although all commmunication with our server can be encrypted, other mail servers may not support this. For this reason, any emails sent to or from addresses outside Port995 may be susceptible to eavesdropping. If you want to send private emails (such as commercially sensitive or personal information), you should use an “end-to-end” encryption system such as OpenPGP. |
