Help
A block is a set of instructions used to decide whether or
not an email will be accepted. Once you have created a block, you can choose which of your
mailboxes you would like it applied to from the
mailboxes page.
To create a block, first ensure you are in the correct area of the control panel, click on the
option marked “Blocking” on the left-hand menu. If you have not yet created any
blocks, this screen will be mostly empty. To create a new block, simply click on the
“Create” button.
The fields you will need to fill in are as follows:
- Name
- The name is simply a reference to allow you to identify the block when applying it to a
mailbox.
- Rules
- The rules determine which emails the block should apply to.
To define a new rule:
- Click on the button labelled “Create”
- If you would like matching emails to be allowed rather than blocked, change the first
drop-down list to “Allow” instead of “Block”.
- From the next drop-down list, choose which criteria to match on. eg: If
you want to block all emails bigger than 200000 bytes, select “larger than
(bytes)” from the list.
- In the empty text field next to the drop down list, enter the value you want to use.
So, using the example above, if you wanted to block all emails larger than 200000 bytes,
you would enter “200000” here.
Note — You can as many criteria as you like to
the new block, by repeating steps 1 to 3.
- Finally enter a short message for the email's sender explaining why the email was
rejected.
As usual, when you are happy with your changes, click the “OK” button in the bottom
right corner to save them, and click “Activate” when you are ready to make them
live.
