This page describes the procedure for configuring Ximian Evolution 1.0 to access a Port995
mailbox (via IMAP) and send emails through our server.
This HowTo assumes that you have already created a mailbox for your account, and have the
username and password details to hand. For details, see the
mailbox creation HowTo.
- Select a currently configured mailbox, or alternatively the default
Inbox folder (You can do this by selecting File / Go to Folder , and selecting Inbox .
- Select
Tools / Mail Settings .
- Click on the button labelled
New on the right of the Mail Settings window.
- On the introduction screen, click
Next .
- In the field labelled
Full Name , enter your personal or company name.
- In the field labelled
Email Address , enter the full address for the mailbox you have previously created.
- Click on
Next .
- Under
Server Type , select IMAP .
- In the field labelled
Host , enter port995.com .
- In the field labeled
User Name , enter the full address of the mailbox you have previously created.
- If you would like to download your messages via a secure connection, check the box marked
Use Secure Connection (SSL) .
- Click on
Next .
- Click on
Next .
- Under
Server Type , select SMTP .
- In the field labelled
Host , enter port995.com:587 .
- If you wish to send outgoing emails to our mail server via a secure connection, check the option, under
Use Secure Connection (SSL) and remove :587 from the host field mentioned above.
- Check the box labelled
Server requires authentication .
- Under
Authentication Type , select Password .
- In the field labelled
Username , enter the full address of the mailbox you have previously created.
- Click on
Next .
- Enter a descriptive name for this mailbox (for your reference).
- Click on
Next .
- Click on
Finish .
The above settings should be enough to begin using Evolution to send and receive email.
